Why I Fell in Love with Mahjong

Why I Fell in Love with Mahjong

Mahjong has captured my attention this year and I’m totally smitten! Let me tell you why!  First, I’m at that age where my mental faculties are being questioned by myself and those around me. Consistently challenging my brain has become very important. Second, I’m looking for a place to meet new friends. I know I’m not alone here. I hear it frequently.  One of the most unfortunate byproducts of Covid is that we have gotten out of the habit of getting dressed and leaving the house. And third, if you’re not convinced yet, this game is beautiful! The colors and artistry are a treat to the senses. You’ll understand when you get a couple of flower tiles, or the bird bam, and keep them just because they’re pretty!

Is the game hard to learn? Well, yes. It is a challenge. It’s going to take at least three lessons and lots of practice before you start getting comfortable. But the learning is the best part! You’ll be seated at a table with a coach, in a community of new friends (who are as lost as you are) and in a pretty place that feels more like a social club than a classroom. The more you play, the more you learn the more people you meet, and the better you get. And winning a hand in Mahjong keeps you coming back.

Sign up today for your first class – I promise you won’t be disappointed!!
Happy Playing!
